Skins Rolls Back the Years

Craig Skinner

LFE Regional Officer Craig Skinner (pictured) rolled back the years last Saturday when representing Blackburn Rovers Masters at the Screwfix North West Masters held at the MEN Arena in Manchester.

Craig, who appeared for Rovers in the early nineties under Don Mackay, was joined in the Blackburn line up by Alan Fettis, Paul Warhurst, Mark Atkins, Keith Hill and Simon Garner amongst others.

However, in a six team tournament Craig’s Blackburn side failed to progress from a group that included Bolton Wanderers and Oldham Athletic. Falling to a 4-3 defeat against the Trotters (after Skinner had brought them back into the game) and a 4-1 defeat to the Latics.

In the other group, Bury’s current Head of Youth, Mike Sheron, fired Man City Masters past Man Utd and Leeds Utd Masters into a final showdown with Oldham Athletic.

The final was a tight game with Oldham in the ascendency until Sheron (pictured left) swept home with his left foot.

The striker proved the difference to see Man City crowned North West Masters Champions and to seal his own personal accolade of Golden Boot winner for his five goals in three matches.

Manchester City will now progress to Masters grand final which will be held on September 7th at the NEC, Birmingham. For more information on this please visit www.mastersfootball.com
