Reds Go-Karting for Award

Nottingham Forest Apprentices

Nottingham Forest’s Apprentices recently undertook a trip to Dukes Barn Outdoor Pursuit Centre.

The Reds Apprentices were accompanied by Chris Fairclough (Youth Team Coach), Phil McLoughlin (Academy Physiotherapist) and Richard Jones (Academy Video Analyst) as they spent four days at the centre undertaking teambuilding and fitness work in a variety of different ways.

The Apprentices activities included Caving, Climbing, Abseiling, Canoeing, Walking/Navigation, Go Karting and Zip Wiring with an obligatory morning team running session thrown in for good measure.

Working in groups of eight the Apprentices used these activities to build evidence towards their completion of The Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Youth Team Coach, Chris Fairclough believed that the visit was a major hit and will now hope that some of the skills learnt will come to the fore on the pitch this season.

He said,

“The trip allowed the group to get to know one another further and enabled me to learn more about them when faced with new challenges in a different environment.”

He continued,

“Overall, the visit proved a valuable experience for our Apprentices as it helped to develop their teamwork and leadership skills that will be called upon throughout the season.”
