Bantams Three Given Pro Deals

Rory Carson

Rory Carson Bradford City have handed first professional contracts to three of their Apprentice players.

Rory Carson (pictured), Louis Horne and Luke Dean have all graduated to the senior ranks and will be part of Stuart McCall’s first team squad next season.

The news was welcomed by Northern Ireland U18 international Carson who suffered a frustrating end to the season after breaking a metatarsal bone.

However, the midfielder has returned on form from a loan spell at Unibond Premier League side Salford City which has earned him the full time deal.

Youth team coach David Wetherall said:

“Rory has flown since going to Salford and really stepped up to the mark. It was a bit of a wake up call and he’s come back and shown a great attitude. He wants to get on the ball all the time and at Youth team level, he just ran games and bossed it.”

“Louis has looked strong for a long time. He’s been in and around the squad and I don’t see anything fazing him. His attitude to training and to football in general is top drawer.”

“Luke puts himself about. He’s not the biggest lad but a proper battler who puts his foot in and, at times, shows good quality on the ball.”

Wetherall added:

“All three of them need to focus on working hard to improve. It’s fantastic to get your first pro contract and be able to call yourself a footballer. But they haven’t made it yet.”

“Now they have to go from players who shine at Youth level to those who not only play in but are outstanding in the Reserves.”
