Joe Signs Again

Joe Thompson

Rochdale forward Joe Thompson has signed a 12-month contract extension which keeps him at the Club until 2010.

The 2007 FL Apprentice of the Year winner came through the Youth ranks at Spotland to make 62 appearances for Dale, scoring six goals since his senior debut in May 2006.

The 20 year old is looking forward to the new season and to continuing his development under Keith Hill and his coaching staff.

“Of course I am happy and this means I can look forward to my third season as a pro,” he told the Club’s official website.

“Last season saw me involved in more games and scoring a few goals but it is now about continuing to improve and making my way up to the next level.”

Thompson, along with the other young professionals, has been working hard on the physical aspect of his game during the summer break in preparation for next term.

“I’ve been working with Guy Proctor three times a week since the season ended to build up my physical strength. I did grow upwards quite quickly as a teenager and was a little bit gangly when I came into the first team squad but hopefully the work we are doing will make me that bit stronger.”
