Support from Sports Stars

The first event of its kind in the UK, Progression 08 is fast becoming one of the most important dates in the sporting industry’s diary.

Supporters and spokespeople for the event include three-time Olympian James Hickman, Liverpool Ladies FC and Wales international Kelly Davies and England netball ace Tracey Neville (pictured left).

One of England’s most capped netball players, Tracey played for her country 81 times before injury forced her out of the game for a couple of years.

Now back and playing netball for Leeds Carnegie Super League Team at national level – Tracey is also working full-time at Leeds Metropolitan University in the nutrition department alongside offering her support to the Carnegie scholar, sports students across all disciplines including netball, hockey and athletics.

Speaking to Progression 08 Tracey said,

“I believe gaining an education increases drive and commitment. Education is very important throughout life, I have always been driven to be the best that I can be and train to the best of my capabilities, this coincides with my work at Leeds Met. It’s all about supporting student learning.”

“The chance to support Progression 08 is incredibly important to me, the opportunity for career development and education outside of playing sport is something I am a huge supporter of. By getting our voices heard at events like this, hopefully we will all be able to make a difference to athletes ongoing careers and opportunities.”

World swimming champion, James Hickman (above) fully supports the event,

“I’m so pleased to be actively supporting Progression 08, there is no better time than now to raise awareness of athletes as a viable, independent, disciplined workforce with numerous skills that are adaptable across all industries.”
