Richardson Joins Lincoln City

Lincoln City have signed former York City Apprentice Tom Richardson on a deal until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old midfielder was the youth-team captain at Bootham Crescent last term after failing to make a first-team appearance for the Minstermen.

He has turned out for Evo-Stick First Division South side Sheffield FC since leaving York.

PFA Director of Education & LFE Regional Officer Pat Lally helped Richardson through the education element of his Apprenticeship at York and is delighted to see the youngster be given a chance with another professional club.

“Tom was unfortunate in many respects because when Martin Foyle was the Manager things looked very positive for him.”

“Obviously when Gary (Mills) came in things changed and he didn’t rate Tom quite as highly but that just shows that football’s a game of opinions and things can change very quickly.”

“It’s great to see that David (Holdsworth) has given him a chance to show what he can do at Lincoln but there’s an awful lot of work to be done now as he’s only on a six-month contract.”

Richardson will start that work at Blyth Spartans where he will spend a month on loan before returning to Sincil Bank.
