LFE Picks Up Bronze

LFE has picked up a Bronze Award at the 2011 E-Learning Awards.

At a glitzy bash at The London Marriott Hotel last Thursday evening LFE’s Functional Skills materials ‘Fit for the Future’ came third in the Excellence in the production of learning content – not for profit sector.

The resources were built by LFE in conjunction with Sportiv8, Kineo and Navitas Sports Consultancy.

The materials which feature both Olympic athletes and some household names from the world of football including Clarke Carlisle & Robbie Savage, focus on addressing literacy and numeracy skills.

Mark Harrison of Kineo said: “It’s a real achievement to pick up an award as there were many entrants in this category. The judges were very impressed with both the programme and the goal of sharing these useful learning resources with everyone free of charge. Everyone involved in the project should feel very proud of themselves with this recognition.”

Equally happy was LFE’s Project Manager Dan Jolley: “This is excellent news and it’s extremely pleasing for us to gain recognition for this work which tackles pressing educational concerns across the sector.”

“The materials are unique as they are available to all as a free open resource.”

“They make use of sports stars to get across our learning message but can quite easily be adapted by anyone wanting to use it.”
