Youth Setup Central To The Imps’ Future

Lincoln City’s caretaker manager Grant Brown believes the future of the club is in the hands of their youth players.

Striker Jordan Thomas, 16, became the club’s youngest ever player when he came on for the final five minutes of Tuesday’s game with Mansfield.

And speaking to BBC Lincolnshire, Brown said: “We have not got a great deal of money so we need to produce players.”

“The only way we’ll find out is by playing them, if they are good enough they will get a chance.”

In recent weeks the Red Imps have also given two starts to youngster Karl Cunningham, the son of former striker Tony Cunningham, while youth team goalkeeper Nick Draper has been given a place on the bench.
