O’Neill leaves Leicester City and Joins Mansfield Town

Mansfield Town have completed the signing of Leicester City defender Luke O’Neill on a one-year deal.

O’Neill, now 19 years-old came through the ASE programme in 2009 before signing a professional deal with the Foxes that summer.

He made 2 appearances for the club during his stay at the Walkers Stadium but was told in May that he did not feature in Sven Goran Eriksson’s future plans.

The youngster has also made four appearances for Tranmere Rovers while on-loan during the 2009 – 10 season. Last year he made nineteen appearances on-loan at Kettering Town in the Blue Square Premier scoring two goals in the process.

Speaking to Mansfield’s website, he said: “I was impressed with the stadium, the manager and the set up here and those are the main reasons why I have signed.”

“My aims are to play as many games as possible and to gain promotion.”
