Tranmere Rovers are bracing themselves for a bid from Bayern Munich for their highly rated teenage winger Dale Jennings.
The youngster who was last year’s League One Apprentice of the Year has previously been linked to a number of Premier League and Championship Clubs after impressing last term.
However Bayern have now jumped to the head of the queue for the youngster after initially having a request to take him on trial turned down at the end of last season.
The German giants are believed to value the youngster at £500,000 with add-ons to follow based on appearances and a cut of any future sale.
They will now hope to push through a deal to fend of other interested parties with Rovers boss Les Parry expected to return from holiday today.
Should Jennings move to Germany it will be yet another endorsement of Tranmere’s remarkable youth development programme which is famed for producing talented young players.
Previous graduates of Rovers system include Alan Mahon, Jason Koumas, Clint Hill, Ryan Taylor, Steve Simonsen and current first-teamers Aaron Cresswell and Ash Taylor.
“Obviously for a club like Tranmere to be linked to Bayern Munich is fantastic for everyone who works here in the youth department,” said Head of Youth, Shaun Garnett.
“It’s a feather in the cap and shows the quality of players that we can produce to attract a club like Bayern’s interest.”
“We’re talking about one of Europe’s top club’s so it would be a great move for Dale if it happens. He’s a quiet unassuming lad but we saw last season just how much quality he has especially with some of the goals he scored.”
“If he moves over there, he would go with the best wishes of everyone at the club but equally if he stays then I’m sure the gaffer will expect him to knuckle down, work hard and show everyone what he can do come August,” added Garnett.
