Tranmere Tie Pair To Pro Contracts

Tranmere Rovers have offered professional contracts to Apprentices Max Power and Andy Coughlin.

The pair are currently in their second year of a two year Apprenticeship and have been offered their first professional deals with the Club.

Both have been unused substitutes for the first team in 2010-11.

Wirral born Max, 17, is a central midfielder who has been with the Club since the age of 8. He has been a regular in the reserves and youth teams this season, scoring 14 times.

Earlier this season Dale Jennings, a second year youth scholar, also signed his first professional contract with the Club.

Andy Coughlin, 18, from Liverpool, is a goalkeeper who has been with the Club since the age of 15. Having progressed through the Centre of Excellence at Tranmere, he has made 25 appearances in all competitions this season.

Manager Les Parry said: “I’m really pleased to be able to offer Andy and Max their first professional contracts.”

“They’ve done well for both the youth team and reserves in their two years as scholars and deserve a chance to work full time with the first team squad next season.”

“Hopefully they’ll take this chance with both hands.”

Chief Executive Mick Horton added: “Max and Andy are the latest players to sign a professional contract from our very successful youth programme.”

“This shows the high level of commitment that the Club has and will continue to have towards young players.”
