When local rivals Oldham Athletic and Huddersfield Town went in to battle on Sunday afternoon no fewer than 19 players on the pitch had been developed as part of a Football League Youth Development programme.

Oldham Manager Dave Penney welcomed Deane Smalley back into his first eleven and included youngsters Ryan Brooke, Josh Ollerenshaw, Paul Black (pictured above), and Chris Rowney in his squad.

Town, who emerged as victors by a goal to nil, included 5 home grown players in their ranks as well as Jordan Rhodes, Theo Robinson (pictured below) and Lionel Ainsworth, all graduates of the ASE programme at other Football League Clubs.
