Leicester City’s Academy joined the Royal Navy for pre-season preparation when the young Foxes visited HMS Collingwood in Fareham.
The recent visit was organised by Chief Petty Officer Mark Pell, a Leicester City supporter, to give the young players an insight into some of the training undertaken by the Royal Navy.
CPO Pell supervised the youths taking part in a series of tough physical training and command and leadership tasks.
These included undertaking the obstacle course challenge, working together as a team on the low ropes and an early morning jog down to Lee-On-the-Solent, conducting some circuits on the way and finishing off with a refreshing dip in the sea.
Steve Beaglehole, Academy Coach said:
“It was a real privilege to be at HMS Collingwood again. The team are learning a lot about leadership skills and the importance of working together as a team.”
Finally, before the young Foxes went home they had a friendly match with Southampton Youth Academy who had visited previously.
The week’s intense training at HMS Collingwood paid off – Leicester claimed victory after defeating the Saints 4-1.
