Sheffield Wednesday’s Nathan Modest and Cecil Nyoni have both impressed Academy Manager Sean McAuley in their respective loan spells away from Hillsborough.
Modest has joined Conference side Darlington on loan until 22 May while 2nd Year Apprentice Nyoni is on work experience with Northern Premier League Premier Division side Boston United.
And Academy boss Sean McAuley is pleased with how the pair are progressing. Speaking on the Club’s website, he said:
“It’s a really good opportunity for both lads. Nathan and Cecil have both got the opportunity to go and play senior football.”
“Cecil went first on work experience to Boston and they are challenging for promotion at the top of their league.”
“He’s gone there and is doing really well. I deem that to be a greater challenge than youth team football for that individual and he’s benefiting from the experience.”
Modest made his debut for the Quakers on Saturday in the FA Trophy with Darlington beating Bath City 4-1.
McAuley added: “Nathan played his first game for Darlington last weekend and the reports have been very good and very positive but we always knew he needed to take that step, it was just finding the right place and right opportunity.”
“Darlington are obviously an ex-league Club with a good manager and will be challenging for promotion and when you’re at the top end of the Conference it’s definitely real football.”
