Rovers last week completed the signing of 17 year old central-defender Luke Waterfall from Barnsley on a one-year deal after a successful trial spell.
The former Tykes Apprentice has featured in Rovers’ pre-season friendlies against Wrexham and Heswall, having been released by the South Yorkshire club this summer.
Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore has likened the new recruit to former Rovers centre-back Clint Hill who was a graduate of the Club’s successful Youth Development system.
Moore told the club website:
“Luke is a very talented young defender. He’s big and strong, comfortable on the ball and knows how to tackle.”
“He’s right-footed rather than left, as Clint was, and I think he has a good chance in the game. He just needs to quicken his feet up, and we will do that for him.
“I’m very pleased we managed to pinch him.”
