Tranmere Rovers have secured the services of former Apprentice Danny Holmes on a one-year contract.
The 22-year old will be on familiar territory as it was at Prenton Park where he completed his Apprenticeship and was rewarded with a two-year professional deal in 2007.
However after a loan spell at Southport FC and managing only one appearance in Rover’s first team, he was released in 2009.
From there on, the defender joined up with his brother at Welsh Premier League outfit The New Saints where he made over sixty appearances before leaving at the end of this season.
“I’m delighted to get the chance to come back and compete for a place in the team I’ve always supported,” Holmes told the club’s website.
Tranmere Rovers boss Les Parry said: “I’m really pleased to be able to bring Danny back to the Club.”
“His work ethic always impressed me when he was here as a youngster and he has now been away and got a lot of experience under his belt to come back to us as a better player.”
“For the past two seasons he has widely been recognised as the best right back in the Welsh Premier League and I’m pleased we will be able to call on a player of his quality and experience.”
