Sky Blues Starlets Make Debut

Coventry City Apprentices Cyrus Christie and Jonson Harris made their debuts for the first team on Tuesday 10th August against Morecambe in the Carling Cup 1st Round.

17 year old Cyrus replaced Chris Hussey when he was forced to leave the field due to injury on the 25th minute of the game.

Jonson made Club history as the youngest player to have appeared in a first team match for Coventry City at just 16 years and 20 days, coming on as a second half substitution for David Bell. Only 6 months ago he was playing Sunday League Football for Beaumont Town in Leicester.

Jordan Clarke and Jermaine Grandison who made the first team debuts last season in the same round of the Cup also played.

Three other Apprentices made the subs bench along with Michael Quirke who was the U18 goalkeeper last season.

Shaun Jeffers has been called up for the forthcoming U19 International Match against Slovakia taking place at Crewe Alexandra on Thursday 2nd September. Callum Wilson has been placed on stand-by for this game.
