Severn Hopes For England Start

James Severn

Derby County Youth Team goalkeeper James Severn will hope to feature for England U19’s in tonight’s friendly match against Turkey at Scunthorpe United’s Glanford Park.

The Academy shot-stopper has been called up for the squad after he kept a clean sheet for the U19’s in a 2-0 victory over Slovakia in a European Championship Qualifier last month.

Youth Team Manager John Perkins told the Club’s official website:

“It is a tremendous honour for James to be called up to the England U19 squad and I have no doubt it will be another fantastic experience for him. We had some good feedback on him from the last game, so it is encouraging for us all that James has received a further call-up.”

“Hopefully he will be involved in the game but we’ve not had any indication yet. Regardless, it will be a fantastic experience. To be involved at international level, he cannot fail to learn and it will stand him in good stead for the future.”
