The search for hidden talent ahead of London 2012 stepped forward once more as UK Sport and the English Institute of Sport (EIS) tested the second cohort of applicants for Pitch2Podium in Manchester.
The young footballers who were unfortunate enough to be released by their club have been provided with the opportunity to explore how far up the Olympic ladder they can climb.
The second event recently took place at Sports City in Manchester with a host of tests designed to assess whether any of the applicants had the raw attributes required for World and Olympic success in targeted sports.
Assessments were carried out on the applicants’ strength, power, and speed and the athletes pitted themselves against target scores set by some of Britain’s most successful Olympians and the top scores from the London assessment event.
The results are now eagerly awaited to determine which applicants with outstanding potential will be filtered into targeted World Class Programmes.
