Saturday’s Youth Alliance league match between Port Vale and Walsall saw the Saddlers Youth team secure a 4-0 victory away from home.
Dean Smith’s side took an early lead when a good touch and turn by George Bowerman saw him score Walsall’s first.
2nd-year Apprentice Jamie Paterson doubled the Saddlers’ lead in the first half after Louis Keenan’s long ball to Paterson found the back of the net.
“It was a good all-round performance where we passed the ball with real purpose,” said Walsall Head of Youth, Dean Smith. “The movement of our front two caused our hosts problems throughout the game.”
“More chances followed, which we failed to take, but the pleasing aspect was that we were getting into good positions. The scoring was complete as Paterson beat the offside trap before slotting past the exposed keeper to make it 4-0.”
