Jake Kirby has signed a new two and a half year contract with Tranmere Rovers today.
The 18-year-old midfielder made his debut for Rovers in the final game of last season while still an Apprentice and has made a further six appearances this term.
Kirby is the second youngster to sign a new deal at Prenton Park this week after fellow first year professional Cole Stockton also secured his future at the club.
“I’m delighted to keep Jake at the Club for another two seasons,” Manager Ronnie Moore told the club’s website.
“He has been really unfortunate not to be involved more this season because of the form of other players, but I really believe he has a big future at Tranmere.”
“He’s bright and enthusiastic, wants to learn and if he keeps up his hard work in training hopefully it will pay off.”
Kirby is yet to start a game for Rovers is hoping that his new deal will help propel his career forward.
“I’m really pleased to have signed the new contract,” said Kirby. “I’ve loved being involved with the first-team squad this season and I want to push on over the next couple of seasons and earn a regular place in the team.”
