Macclesfield Town youngster John Rooney has joined Major League Soccer outfit Seattle Sounders on a week’s trial.
The 19 year old midfielder came through Macc’s ASE programme in 2009 and was a professional at Moss Rose last season. However, the youngster rejected the offer of a new deal with the Silkmen and trained with Huddersfield Town during the summer with a view to a move there.
Sounders Manager Sigi Schmid said:
“We want to see where he’s at and what he’s like as a player.”
Last season, he had a trial at Championship side Derby County but was not offered a deal.
