Northumbria & LFE Hit The Headlines

LFE Progression Partners Northumbria University have been taking up the column inches with the SundaySun recently providing coverage around the University’s groundbreaking football programme.

The University are advocates of higher education complimented by continued football development and their partnership with LFE is designed to offer a viable pathway for talented footballers who have come out of an Apprenticeship.

Speaking in the North East’s SundaySun, Northumbria’s Head of Football, Paul Johnson, said:

“Our new agreement with League Football Education, whose purpose it is to promote educational opportunities for Apprentice footballers at professional Clubs, is truly groundbreaking.”

“The University has been recognised by LFE as having one of the best and most progressive football programmes, linked to academic study, in the UK.”

“The programme gives players a second opportunity to develop their football talent with one of the top four Universities in the country for football, while studying for a degree.”

“This innovative approach to sport and education helps to ensure that, should players not get a contract in the game, that they have a secure future with great prospects.”
