New Appointment For Shrews

Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury Town have appointed former defender Dave Hughes as their new Head of Youth Development.

Hughes left Shrewsbury for Cardiff in 2001 but a knee injury forced him to retire from the game in 2003 at the age of 25.

Speaking to BBC Radio Shropshire Hughes said:

“I’m delighted to be back here, I missed football and started my coaching qualifications. This is an ideal role for me and the only decision was ‘yes’.”

“We want to try and ensure there’s a pathway from our Centre of Excellence through to the Youth team and beyond.”
