McLaggon Hoping To Re-launch League Career At Rovers

Bristol Rovers have completed the signing of Kayne McLaggon from Blue Square South club Salisbury City on a one-year deal.

The 20-year-old forward is a graduate of Southampton’s Apprenticeship programme.

He signed professional terms while with the Saints and made 8 appearances for the club scoring 1 goal before he was released in the May of 2010.

The youngster who has been capped by Wales at youth level joined Salisbury in August of that year and helped the club win promotion to the Blue Square South last season.

He is now hoping to re-launch his League career with Bristol Rovers;

“I started my career in the Southampton Youth set up, but unfortunately an injury curtailed my progress,” he told the club’s website.

“I went to Salisbury to learn the game, and I am delighted to have another chance to launch my career in the Football League.”

He added:

“This is a great club and a fantastic opportunity. The manager sold the club to me, and I wanted to work with him as he has a great record of working with young players.”

“There are a lot of good strikers here with lots of experience and I want to learn from them and eventually become as good as them, if not better.”

Rovers chairman Nick Higgs said: “I would like to welcome Kayne to Bristol Rovers. He is an exciting prospect for the future, and I am delighted that he decided to sign for us.”

McLaggon was not eligible to play last night as Rovers recorded a 5-2 win over his former employers Salisbury.
