LFE x Kick It Out: 30 Year Anniversary

LFE x Kick It Out: 30 Year Anniversary

Kick It Out is a leading voice in the fight against discrimination and in August the organisation reached a 30 year anniversary still standing in this space.

League Football Education has been in partnership with Kick It Out for 15+ years delivering life skills workshops to academy players, parents, carers and staff. To acknowledge and amplify the cause, LFE and Kick It Out launched a campaign to highlight learning and events from the past three decades.

The call to action was for academy players of all ages to share their understanding of discrimination and the role models who have inspired them to continue kicking it out of football. Academy player care and education staff provided further learning with parents and carers getting involved too, capturing all important messages on video to create the montage below.

Kick It Out’s Impact Report was also released on the anniversary and it shows that football has become safer, more inclusive, and more welcoming over the past three decades but that there is still a belief more needs to be done to combat discrimination.

Kick It Out chair Sanjay Bhandari said: “As we reach this historic milestone it gives us a moment to stop and reflect on the journey that we have been on, but we know that there is still much work to be done and this research only serves to highlight that fans overwhelmingly want more action to tackle discrimination throughout the game.

“Now is not the time for the game to rest on its laurels. We remain unwavering in our resolve to end all forms of discrimination in sport for good and need stakeholders across sport to join us on that journey.”
