Jack Payne Joins Professional Ranks At Southend

Southend United youngster Jack Payne has signed a one-year deal with the League Two club.

The 18-year-old, who can play as an attacking midfielder or forward has come through the club’s apprenticeship programme and regularly featured in LFE’s goal of the month competition.

“He was injured when I arrived, but we invited him for pre-season,” manager Phil Brown told the club’s website.

“I think we’ve got a very good prospect here with us and I’m sure he’s got a very bright future in football.”
