Holland Day 9, 10 & 11: Pre-season Tours

Following yesterday’s final group matches, the LFE Invitational Tournament will be drawn to a conclusion tomorrow with the staging of the much anticipated final.

Walsall and Watford both prevailed as group winners and will face each other in tomorrow’s showpiece at 3 o’clock. Beforehand however the Third Place Play-off featuring second placed Scunthorpe United and Wycombe Wanderers will commence at 11 o’clock.

Yesterday’s results that concluded the above were as follows:

Watford 8 – 0 SVV (A)
Scunthorpe United 0 – 0 ADO Den Haag
Walsall 7 – 0 Ijsselmeervogels
Wycombe Wanderers 3 – 0 SVV (B)

Tuesday saw the Apprentices take an off-site excursion into the nearby city centre of Arnhem.

The trip allowed the players to be tourists and experience the culture within a city they may have never visited otherwise. Each club were scheduled to visit the Arnhem War Musuem to pay their respects for those who lost their life at war in the 1940’s.

On return to the hotel each club underwent an afternoon training session, which required a short bike ride to the pitches, serving as a convenient warm-up prior to training.

Matchday saw the clubs prepare for their games by having a light training session in the morning – focusing on the set-pieces and tactics to be employed in their encounters later that day.

The evening’s fixtures saw the touring teams score eighteen goals and keep four clean-sheets in what proved to be an entertaining spectacle for onlookers.

Thursday demands an effective recovery day of each touring team as they will all play their part in tomorrows finals. Ice baths, massages and rest will be high on the agenda for the lads.

Don’t forget to keep tabs on the bloggers as they keep everyone updated on their experiences here.
