Sheffield Wednesday youngster George Hirst was at the double as England’s Under-18 side defeated Poland on Thursday night at Stevenage.
The son of former Wednesday hero David, opened the scoring when he converted a pass from a Andre Dozzell, the Ipswich midfielder, who, like Hirst has a surname that is synonymous with the club he players for.
Dozzell’s father Jason made over 400 appearances for the Tractor Boys.
Hirst, who made his first team bow at Wednesday earlier this season in an EFL Cup tie against Cambridge, then doubled England’s advantage in the second half, converting from the penalty spot after he had been upended by Polish defender Oskar Repka.
