With Progression 09 The Careers Events only days away, LFE caught up with ex Coventry City Apprentice Lee Hildreth, who is now taking full advantage of LFE’s Progression Partner programme.
Lee joined the Sky Blues as a schoolboy before going on to captain their under 18 side and become a member of the first team squad. He made his one and only appearance for City on the final day of the 2006-07 season against Burnley before being released by Manager Chris Coleman at the end of the 2007-08 campaign.
Now playing for British Gas Premier Division side Corby Town, the midfielder is currently retraining to work as a fitness instructor thanks to LFE’s Progression programme which has partnered with YMCAfit and Fitness First.
The partnership means that Apprentice or Professional footballers / elite athletes that wish to retrain in the fitness industry can be assessed by Fitness First as prospective employees before they undertake a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification delivered by YMCAfit.
Once successfully through the qualification Fitness First guarantee an interview at a centre most appropriate to them.
Speaking prior to Progression 09, Lee stated:
“The opportunity provided by LFE, YMCAfit and Fitness First to train as a Fitness Instructor is great as I can look at a new career that actually also compliments my playing and training commitments playing non-league football.”
“I can’t speak highly enough of this programme and would advise anyone that is currently considering a career in the fitness industry to give it a go.”
