As a Swedish custom, when you graduate from school at 19, you take part in a parade to celebrate. People have white graduation caps, which are individualised with your name and/or a personal message on the front and back.
To our surprised when me and Adam arrived in Sundsvall yesterday, to relax and shop, we were greeted by 500 or more graduates in and around the city centre. They looked like they were having the best time in the world, and nothing was going to ruin their big day.
Everyone had eventually gathered in the main square where there was a DJ on a raised platform playing music. The whole thing had a festival atmosphere and at 3.30 everyone let their yellow and blue balloons go. It was a really nice thing to witness and something I wish I could have done in England.
This Saturday we are playing in the biggest game of our season so far, against the team that are favourites to win the league – IFK Ostersund. We’re playing at home which gives us a slight advantage but we know it will probably be the hardest game we’ve played so far, with respect to the other teams. If we can win this game, we will open up a six point gap between us and them and make a real statement in terms of the league.
