Portsmouth forward James Jennings is LFE’s February 2012 Goal of the Month winner.
The 18-year-old striker beat seven fellow apprentice players to the prize, including his own Pompey team-mate, George Colson.
Jennings left-footed finish which came in a 2-1 win against Fulham last month saw him pick up over 2000 of the 6115 public votes cast to pip Accrington Stanley’s Jack Sargent – his nearest rival.
“I am really pleased to win this award in the face of some tough competition,” Jennings told LFE.
“There were some great goals in there and I’m just happy to make a late run and nick it.”
“I’d like to also thank my team-mates because without them and their hard work it’s impossible to win anything individually.”
Academy Manager Andy Awford added: “James showed a good turn of pace and showed good composure to finish really well.”
“It was great goal in a good win over a quality Fulham side.”
Jennings now joins strike partner Ashley Harris in the hunt for LFE’s Goal for the Season award with both automatically qualifying as winners of the monthly competition.
