Gillingham have offered five of their second year Apprentices professional deals.
Manager Andy Hessenthaler is keen to bring players through the ranks at the Priestfield Stadium. Former graduates of the clubs youth system including recent England debutant Matt Jarvis who is now at Wolves and Wales and Norwich midfielder Andrew Crofts.
“I am a manager that likes to bring through youngsters, that’s what we did with Matt Jarvis and Andrew Crofts. If they are good enough they will get their chance”, Hessenthaler told the club’s website.
Goalkeeper Daren Hawkes, defenders Jack Evans and Callum Davies, plus midfielders Alex Brown and Tom Brunt are the five youngsters to be offered terms and with some promising first-year Apprentices and a strong pool of U16 players who will join the club this summer, Hessenthaler is confident that the future is looking good.
