Two ASE graduates found their shooting boots to help Ipswich Town’s Reserves record a comfortable victory at Southend United.
Ed Upson grabbed a brace, while Reggie Lambe added another in their 6-1 over the Shrimpers.
Midfielder, Upson, gave Town the advantage in the opening minutes with a 25 yard deflected strike but the Shrimpers were soon back on level terms when Matt Paterson scored after Brian Murphy had saved his initial effort.
Town went back in front 60 seconds later, Reggie Lambe the quickest to react inside the Southend box after his shot had been blocked.
Upson fired over and Lee Martin went close before Connor Wickham made it three with a volley from the edge of the box just before half-time.
O’Connor extended the lead three minutes after the break and it took a terrific save from Daniel Bentley to deny Ronan Murray.
O’Connor did make it five though on 75 minutes with a strike in off the bar and Upson completed the scoring three minutes from time with a well executed free-kick.
