Crewe Alexandra defender Harry Davis has said he is happy to take on penalty duties after scoring from the spot in the 1-0 victory at Cheltenham on Tuesday.
“I’ve always known that I was second-choice behind Ashley Westwood and he was missing for the game,” the 20-year-old told BBC Radio Stoke.
“I was told by the manager before the game that I was on penalties.”
“I’ve got confidence in myself because I practise them a couple of times a week for 15 minutes after training.”
Davis’ strike from the spot saw his double his fledgling career goal tally with his only other strike coming in Alex’s 3-1 home defeat against Southend Utd earlier this month.
Davis came through Alex’s Apprenticeship scheme in 2010 but has had to wait until this season to make his mark on the first-team. He appeared once during the 2009 – 10 season and made a solitary appearance last term. This year he has played in all but one of Alex’s first 18 matches.
“It’s been nice for me playing a run of games,” he added.
“This is my first full season in the first team so to play as many games as I have so far is very pleasing.”
