Coventry City Manager Andy Thorn has praised Conor Thomas for stepping into Sammy Clingan’s shoes whilst he is out injured.
The 18-year old has stepped up from the Academy this season and featured regularly in Andy Thorn’s side.
However, captain Clingan has been out for a month and the young midfielder has produced some very assured performances in the middle of the park over the Christmas period.
Thorn thinks he has been brilliant in City’s time of need and with David Bell now struggling with injury, he wants to see others follow Thomas’ example.
The Sky Blues boss said: “Conor Thomas has been brilliant for us in the middle when Sammy (Clingan) has been out.”
“(Gary) Deegan has also hit form since coming back into the side. But Sammy is a quality player though and with us also losing (David) Bell, we need others to step up as well.”
“Sammy was back out there today training and it gives the place a lift to see him back and working for the club.”
