Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale is to give the trialists he has at the club more time to impress.
Eight players turned out for the Grecians in their 2-2 draw with Weston-super-Mare on Thursday and Tisdale has decided they will all travel with his squad to take part in the Errea Cup on Monday.
Amongst those looking to win a contract are former Swindon Town midfielder Chris Allen and ex-Arsenal youngster James Dunne.
Allen, enjoyed a successful Apprenticeship at the County Ground and was a key member of the team that reached the quarter-final stages of the FA Youth Cup before getting knocked out by Newcastle United.
He was rewarded for his progress by the then Swindon Town manager Paul Sturrock who signed him on a two-year professional deal.
He went on to make his Swindon Town debut during the 2007-08 season in the 4-1 win against Brentford in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and made several further appearances for the Robins.
Speaking to the Express and Echo, Tisdale has been encouraged by both players form this pre-season.
“James has excellent pedigree so we know he is a decent player and Chris is someone we know locally.”
“Both players like to get their foot on the ball and get it down and play and obviously that’s something we like to see.”
“We’ll be able to look at them more closely in the next few weeks and make our decision then.”
