Burnley Duo Head to Droylsden On Loan

Blue Square North strugglers Droylsden have boosted their bid for survival by signing Burnley duo Jason Gilchrist and Luke Gallagher on loan until the end of their season.

Striker Gilchrist is the Championship club’s top scorer at youth-team level and scored a hat-trick earlier this season at Old Trafford as the Clarets knocked Manchester United out of the FA Youth Cup.

His team-mate Gallagher, is Republic of Ireland U19 midfielder and both are tipped for a bright future in the game

“They are going to Droylsden for competitive experience,” Burnley Academy Manager Jason Blake told the club website.

“We have a good relationship with Droylsden, who try and play football the right way, and their position in the league means we will be able to observe our players’ performances and temperament and character in a team battling to stay up.”

“Both of them have probably exceeded the level of competition in the Youth Alliance but now they will be playing at a competitive level and as well as training part-time with Droylsden will continue their training and development with us.”
