Pupils at Sheffield United’s Cutting Edge Centre have been lucky enough to get some extra help with their studies recently from players in the Sheffield United Academy.
Apprentices at the Club volunteered for sessions at the study centre helping youngsters with their maths, English and ICT.
Importantly the Academy players were able draw from their own experience of studying at school and within the ASE programme and relay the importance of learning and how this complements their football training.
Tony Penycooke, Ishmael Lammy, Matthew Darlow, Harry Maguire, Kalum O’Kane, Jordan Slew, Shane Murray, Corey Gregory, Liam Wilkinson and Sam Andrew have participated in the project which has seen Apprentices assist students in a multitude of different learning activities.
The Apprentices have also been ‘interviewed’ by the study centre pupils, and talked about the benefits of good nutrition and physical exercise, helping to motivate and inspire pupils to a healthier lifestyle.
In addition, the Blades starlets have also addressed pupils in relation to the qualities needed to succeed in sport such as determination, dedication and aspiration.
