Bender Receives Dragons Call Up

Tom Bender

Colchester United Apprentice Tom Bender has been called up for the Welsh U17s squad.

The young defender who played in Tuesday’s Reserve team win over Luton Town will take his place in the Dragons squad for the start of the upcoming UEFA U17s Championship later this month.

That tournament will see the Welsh play host to Russia, Bosnia and Iceland in a qualifying round which consists of 13 groups of four teams playing in one-venue mini-tournaments.

Bender will hope that on home soil, he can help Wales secure a top two berth in the group to guarantee progress through to the Elite round, played early next spring.
