Barnsley have announced that Saturday’s top of the table Academy League clash with Newcastle United will be played at Oakwell.
Despite the Academy being a stone’s throw from the main ground, the club has taken advantage of the free weekend in the Championship to give their promising young players the chance to play at the stadium.
The Tykes have won five, drawn one and lost one of their seven fixtures so far this season to sit top of Academy League D on goal difference from the Geordies who have an identical record.
The young reds have scored 16 goals beating Premier League sides such as Arsenal, Fulham and Blackburn and drawing against Liverpool.
The match kicks off at 12 noon on Saturday 8th October.
