Assessment trials a success

LFE’s Exit and Progression support programme for Apprentices gathered more pace last week with the successful LFE and PFA Assessment trials taking place in association with Football Cv.com

The events held at Bisham Abbey, Rushden and Diamonds and Northwich Victoria proved a great success, with players, parents and scouts alike hailing the 3 day programme.

Ian Nimmo from Ipswich Town commented:

“For me the Assessment trials represented a fantastic chance to show what I could do in front of other club scouts following my release from Ipswich Town. I attended the trial at Rushden and was very impressed by the helpfulness of all the staff at the ground. The playing surface was excellent and most importantly all the lads playing in the games acquitted themselves very well. I enjoyed the day and can only thank LFE and The PFA for providing me with a fantastic opportunity to gain a contract at another club.”

The trials themselves are designed to provide Apprentices with the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of representatives from Football League clubs, Nationwide Football Conference clubs and clubs from levels 5 to level 9 of the English Football pyramid. However LFE were also pleased to welcome scouts from the Bundesliga, Scottish Premier League and the United States of America.

Brian Prandle (Wrexham AFC Chief Scout) said:

“All three events were very well organised and I found that it was easy to identify players under the format used. Credit must go to all the Apprentices who attended as each match was competitive but played in the right spirit. There was no shortage of skill and endeavour on show and as a result I’ve certainly taken some of the players into consideration.”

LFE would like to extend its thanks to all the Players, Parents, Club Representatives and staff at each venue for their assistance in ensuring that the trials were run in professional manner. The clubs that expressed an interest in Apprentices at the trials have been provided with contact details and will contact players directly. LFE will be tracking and monitoring the progress of all Apprentices who attended the trials as part of our Exit and Progression support programme.
