A Questionable Performance

I’ve had three days away from the pitch this week due to my sending off the previous week. We played bottom of the league side Heffners/Ortvikens IF but the game was awful – full of mistakes and people running round making wrong decisions which reminded me more of a school playground kick-around!

There were a few substitutions and we started looking more like a team that could string two passes together. We went on to win 7 – 1 and the general thought after the game was, if we play like that for the rest of the season, better teams will pick us off.

For the best part of my week I was in lessons at Swedish school. My teacher is off sick at the moment but incredibly I’m learning more now. In the afternoons I’m in the gym on the treadmill trying to keep my fitness up.

I went to school on Thursday morning 9am – 12pm and despite thinking I’m learning more, I was still struggling. We had training at 6pm in the pouring rain – we warmed up then went into a quick technique session consisting of volleys and headers etc, but then we went straight into a game because it was cold and wet. The game was enjoyable but all I could improve on was my front crawl!

We didn’t have training on Friday so I just chilled out and because it was a horrible day I watched Swedish TV all day, bore!

Game Day – Sund IF v Ange IF

We had an away-day fixture against Sund IF and we started the game 2nd in the league. We played well in the first half scoring 3 goals with good passing and movement, but again we were held back by our defending and as a result of a corner we went in at 3 – 2.

After the break we had a man sent off and from then on we were under pressure. They were just passing it round us so they went up 4 – 3. We looked dead and buried but we put Danny, our defender, up front and went three at the back, he ended up scoring with couple of minutes left and we drew 4 – 4.

I played at right-back and I’d set up one goal. I felt I passed and defended well overall. We now have to win all four of our games left in the season – it’s going to be tough. We’re certainly good enough but our concentration and ability to play well for ninety minutes is questionable.
