2009 Football League Awards Ceremony

Tom Aldred, Carlisle United

On Sunday 29th March 2009 the fourth annual Football League Awards ceremony took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane.

The awards were a huge success, celebrating the outstanding contributions and achievements throughout the League. The awards also offered the chance to mark the success of three exceptional Apprentices.

The Championship Manager Young Apprentice category recognises outstanding young Apprentices in the Coca-Cola Championship, League One and League Two and is decided upon by a panel of experienced judges consisting of BBC Commentator John Motson, player turned pundit Steve Claridge and representatives from The Football League, The PFA, Championship Manager and FourFourTwo Magazine.

Sean Scannell took the plaudits in the Championship after an impressive season for Crystal Palace. The young forward has emerged as a star in the making after establishing himself in Neil Warnock’s first team squad.

LFE Blogger, Carlisle United’s Tom Aldred (pictured top) picked up the award for League One while Matt Phillips of Wycombe Wanderers received the award for League Two.

LFE would like to extend its congratulations to all three winners.

To read more about what it’s like to win one of these prestigious awards log on to Tom Aldred’s Blog on Friday at www.blog.lfe.org.uk.
