LFE’s Goal of the Month competition is back once again to showcase ten of the best strikes by apprentices from across the Academy leagues in October, with the nominees aiming to join previous winners Jack Watson (Doncaster Rovers) and Lewis Farmer (Sheffield Wednesday) in the Goal of the Season line-up.
The latest instalment kicks off with an audacious effort by Exeter City’s Jack Veale, who bagged a spectacular last-minute winner from the halfway line, while Kieran Phillips (Bristol Rovers) required more power than finesse with his unstoppable strike into the top corner.
Another terrific long-range lob features this month via Bolton Wanderers second-year apprentice Joe White, while Leeds United Under-18s full-back Dane Burlace scored a wonder goal of his own in the same game, manoeuvring past a couple of defenders before rifling a shot beyond the grasp of the keeper.
Ryan Pickford’s impressive free-kick for Oldham Athletic Under-18s earns him a place on the shortlist and there is a second nomination in a row for Burton Albion’s Jack Holmes, who repeated his September strike with another powerful drive from distance.
Port Vale Under-18s midfielder Hayden Campbell gave the keeper no chance with a ruthless strike and Leon Chambers-Parillon (Oxford United) also rocketed an effort from outside the area into the back of the net.
Elsewhere, Ben Dooley displayed great technique to control a left-footed volley for Preston North End Under-18s, while 16-year-old Tranmere Rovers winger Ryan Stratulis netted a magnificent goal in the FA Youth Cup, curling a left-footed shot into the top corner after a jinking run from the right flank.
Voting will remain open until noon on 19 November. You can vote for your favourite goal via our online poll.
