LFE’s Goal of the Month competition is back to showcase eight of the best strikes by apprentices from across the Academy leagues during the opening month of the 2019-20 campaign.
Luton Town first-year apprentice Coree Wilson gets things underway with a well-controlled lob over the keeper, while Richard Afrane-Kesey combined placement with power as he cannoned a volley into the top corner for Charlton Athletic Under-18s.
Harry Kavanagh (Portsmouth) is in the mix after dispatching a free-kick from 25 yards out, with Peterborough United’s Charlie O’Connell joining him on the shortlist having converted a pinpoint curler from distance.
Elsewhere, Doncaster Rovers striker Jack Watson’s powerful effort found the far corner with unerring accuracy after cutting in from the left-hand side of the area, while Forest Green Rovers’ Dan Jones effortlessly pulled off a flick on the turn to beat his marker in tricky wet conditions before calmly slotting the ball home.
And the instalment of impressive efforts from August is rounded out by two goals from outside the area, with Tali Jallow of Milton Keynes Dons scoring a precise hit from range and Bradford City’s Eliot Goldthorp almost bursting the net with a ferocious hit.
Voting will remain open until noon on 20 September. You can vote for your favourite goal via our online poll.
