LFE’s Goal of the Month is back for the final time during the 2017-18 campaign, with six sumptuous strikes by apprentices from across the Academy leagues in May in contention to join seven previous winners in the Goal of the Season competition.
Previous victors this season are Matt Mayes (Portsmouth), Caolan Boyd-Munce (Birmingham City), Ellis Chapman (Lincoln City), Jordan Doherty (Sheffield United), Alex Hunt (Sheffield Wednesday), Dylan Sumner (Blackpool) and Jon Smith (Lincoln City).
Rotherham United have two entries in the running for May, with Northern Ireland Under-19 international Reece McGinley’s solo effort going up against 16-year-old Regan Hutchinson, who unleashed a powerful drive against EFL Youth Alliance North East champions Mansfield Town.
Aaron Morley’s pinpoint strike from distance secured the North West title for Rochdale, while Joe Downey found the net with a similarly impressive effort for runners-up Wigan Athletic.
Elsewhere, Republic of Ireland Under-19s starlet Rowan Roache converted a free-kick with expert accuracy and first-year Grimsby Town apprentice Rumarn Burrell controlled a volley superbly to guide the ball into the bottom left corner.
Voting will remain open until noon on 11 June. You can vote for your favourite goal via our online poll or via Twitter using the hashtag attached to each goal.
