Eight terrific strikes from across the Academy leagues in March have made the shortlist for LFE’s latest Goal of the Month competition.

The winner will secure a place in LFE’s 2018-19 Goal of the Season contest, joining Luca Connell (Bolton Wanderers), Bradley Webb (Bristol City), Callum King-Harmes (Bolton Wanderers), Owen James (Oxford United), Lewis Farmer (Sheffield Wednesday), Adam O’Reilly (Preston North End) and Jenson Wright (Milton Keynes Dons).

Two Ipswich Town academy players are in the running, with Tommy Hughes’ audacious effort from inside his own half going head-to-head with Zak Brown, who pulled off a magnificent lob over the keeper from a seemingly impossible angle.

First-year apprentices Jack Smith (Stevenage) and Dan Bradshaw (Forest Green Rovers) showcased their expertise from dead-ball situations by converting pinpoint free-kicks, while Fleetwood Town’s Shayden Morris produced a stunning individual goal by calmly slotting into the net after driving into the penalty area from the halfway line.

Having featured in LFE’s Goal of the Month contest in February, Cambridge United’s Lewis Simper is in the mix again with a powerful left-footed strike from distance. Elsewhere, Spaniard Victor Maffeo drilled into the top corner for EFL Youth Alliance North West champions Wigan Athletic, while regional rivals Preston North End are represented by Josh Pollard as he lashed home from the edge of the area.
