Tough Turf & Nasty Grazes!

Tuesday was match day for the pros. With the pitches still being unplayable we went up to Corpus Christi High School. It has a brand new 3rd generation turf pitch, which is great. Dave came up to work with Tommo and me. It was difficult to get used to the pace of the ball at the beginning, as we hadn’t been with him in a while. However I settled after the first 10 minutes and did well in the session. Tommo went off with the team to do some shape work and I stayed with Dave and did some cross taking. After this we went into a 7-a-side match. Although the turf is very similar to grass, it did hurt to dive on and I had some nasty grazes afterwards! We finished with a penalty for everyone in preparation for our upcoming cup matches. I made a really good save from Ray tipping it onto the post.

In the afternoon we watched a bit of West Brom’s match with Bolton, looking for potential flaws in their team. After that it was back to the digs for a bit before heading to Deepdale for the match. Hull were the visitors and we were out for revenge from the 3-0 defeat which they inflicted upon on us not long ago. The result had led to Paul Simpson’s departure as manager. The game turned out to be the complete opposite from the game at the KC Stadium as we won 3-0. Goals from Pat Ageymang, Simon Whaley and Lewis Neal sealed the win.
