Roaming In Rotterdam

After a fantastic first week in Rotterdam, we are now looking forward to week two at the Papendal!

It’s been a very busy week in Rotterdam, we’ve learnt alot from the Feyenoord coach (Ben Wijnstekers), who set challenging tasks and was a pleasure to work with.

As a team we feel that we have been introduced to a different style of play in such a short space of time, although much of what they do is similar to what we do in England.

The LFE tour so far has been a great experience both on and off the training field, we’ve experienced the Rotterdam Carnival that transformed the city almost into the Carribean!

We’ve spent time in the city centre and also looked around Amsterdam and in doing so we were lucky enough to be part of the crowd for the Johan Cruyff Shield at the impressive Amsterdam Arena. An entertaining match in which FC Twente beat Ajax 2-1.

Our games have also proved to be cultural learning experiences as we have so far played against Dutch opposition and an excellent Watford Academy team.

We ran out 5-0 winners against SVV, but were the wrong side of a 2-0 defeat to Watford, who were an excellent outfit.

Playing Against Watford

However we felt for periods of the game we did very well considering this was our second game in three days.

We’re now waiting for the coach to Papendal where we hope to continue our cultural learning experience.
